Webild Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites function properly, improve security, and provide insights into how users interact with the platform.

We also use similar browser technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage to store certain information in your browser.

2. How We Use Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and browser storage technologies to:

• Authenticate users
• Secure the platform
• Process payments
• Analyze product usage
• Improve performance and user experience

We do not sell personal data.

3. Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are required for Webild to function and cannot be disabled.

We use Clerk for authentication. Clerk sets secure, httpOnly session cookies used for login and identity verification.

Session cookies typically last up to 3600 seconds and refresh during active sessions.

These cookies are set before user consent because they are strictly necessary for core platform functionality.

We do not use CSRF tokens beyond Clerk's built-in protections.

4. Browser Storage (localStorage & sessionStorage)

We use browser storage for functionality and user experience purposes.

localStorage keys used:

• webild-cookie-consent
• webild-onboarding-completed
• webild-subscription-plans
• webild-referral-data
• webild-credits-data
• webild-charges-data
• user_limits
• project-changes-${id}

localStorage persists until manually cleared by the user.

sessionStorage keys used:

• PENDING_PROMPT_KEY
• project-${id}
• session_tracked

sessionStorage persists only while the browser tab is open.

These storage mechanisms are used to improve user experience, track onboarding progress, store in-progress work, and manage account limits.

5. Analytics Cookies

We use analytics services to understand how users interact with Webild and to improve the product:

• Microsoft Clarity
• Klaviyo

Analytics scripts are loaded only after user consent where required by law.

We track events such as:

• Page views
• Session start
• Registration
• Template generation
• Prompt generation
• Generation failure
• Domain actions
• Subscription actions
• Site sharing

We also store certain analytics events internally in our database in a table structured as: analytics_events (id, eventName, userId, metadata, createdAt)

We do not use IP anonymization at this time.

Analytics data is retained indefinitely unless deleted.

6. Marketing and Advertising

We do not use:

• Meta Pixel
• Google Ads conversion tracking
• TikTok Pixel
• LinkedIn Insight Tag

We do not perform retargeting advertising.

We do not share user data with advertising platforms.

7. Payment Processing

We use Stripe to process payments securely.

Stripe may set its own cookies for fraud prevention and transaction security. Stripe scripts may load when users initiate payment actions.

We do not control Stripe's cookies. Please review Stripe's privacy documentation for more details.

We do not use additional fraud prevention cookies beyond those required by Stripe.

8. Infrastructure and Hosting

Webild is hosted on Vercel and delivered via Cloudflare CDN.

Cloudflare does not inject marketing or tracking cookies on our behalf.

These providers may process technical data such as IP addresses for security and content delivery.

9. Media Storage

User uploaded videos are stored on AWS S3.

AWS S3 does not set marketing or analytics cookies through Webild.

We do not use third party video processors such as Mux, Vimeo, or Cloudflare Stream.

10. Email Communications

We use Mailgun to send transactional emails.

We do not use tracking pixels for email open or click tracking.

We do not track email opens, clicks, or conversions via email tracking technologies.

11. AI and Internal Tracking

We log prompts and store generation history to operate the platform.

We track:

• Number of site generations
• Credit usage

This tracking is performed on the backend only and does not rely on cookies.

12. Consent Management

We display a cookie banner where required by law.

We:

• Block non-essential cookies until consent is provided
• Allow users to accept or reject cookies
• Allow users to withdraw consent

Consent is stored in localStorage (webild-cookie-consent).

We do not currently log consent in our backend database.

13. Geographic Scope

We serve users in:

• European Union
• United Kingdom
• California

We comply with GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA where applicable.

14. Data Retention

localStorage persists until manually cleared.

sessionStorage persists until the browser tab is closed.

Clerk authentication cookies are managed by Clerk.

Analytics data is retained indefinitely unless deleted.

15. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data.

We share data only with service providers necessary to operate the platform, including:

• Stripe
• Clerk
• DNSimple
• Klaviyo
• Microsoft Clarity

We do not share data with investors.

We do not use third party subprocessors for cookie-related analytics beyond those listed.

16. Managing Cookies

You can manage cookies through:

• The Webild cookie banner
• Your browser settings
• Clearing cookies and browser storage manually

Disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent the platform from functioning correctly.

17. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in technology, legal requirements, or platform functionality.

The most current version will always be available on our website.
